With their characteristic natural irregular shape and luminous shine, baroque pearls have a distinctive beauty that many women prefer over standard round shapes. This necklace was quite unique. The Baroque pearls are not round and tend to be on the large side. These pearls had a beautiful luster, and the 16" choker length was perfect for my dreadfully skinny neck. I believe the imperfections on the body of each pearl simply added to the unique nature of the necklace.
In viewing the picture, one might think that the pearls varied in color (pink, light grey, white). Not so in my case. All were a lovely luminescent white and matched nicely for size.
The best part was the very unique clasp, which is a tasteful embellishment in itself. I like to simply show off the clasp to one side, but others might like to try attaching a pendant to the clasp. (note: I have seen this type of clasp used in some of the best designer jewelry.) I believe I was lucky enough to purchase this at $29.99. What a super-duper value!! I'd recommend to anyone who wants to have fun with pearls; someone ready to break with tradition and try something new. The main drawbacks are the length at 16 inches, which fits fine as a choker, but is up high around the neck, and the size of the pearls. I was expecting larger pearls. They're listed as 9-10mm and are closer to 7-8mm. That may not be a biggie; I'd just hoped for bigger pearls. Debated returning the necklace, yet it would make a nice gift for one of my nieces so I may hang onto it. Overall it's a fun piece for a young or petite woman, or simply a woman who prefers understated jewelry. I'd highly recommend in any of those cases. As an aside, a sterling silver charm or pendant can be added to the clasp, which can be worn in the front.
